While each taxpayer held unique circumstances and often faced financial hardship, I was grateful to be able to use my tax skills to help them earn the refund they deserve. Helping the Philadelphia community was a challenging yet rewarding experience.

Delaware County Asset Development Group (DelcoAD) is a coalition of organizations offering FREE Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) to low- to moderate-income taxpayers in DelawareCounty.  Last year we prepared 1,500 returns, putting over $3.5M back into taxpayers’ pockets.  This year you can help us meet our goal of helping 2000 Delaware County families access the EITC and other tax credits for which hey are eligible, free of cost.  These tax credits are some of the largest anti-poverty tools in the United States; five million people, half of them children, are lifted out of poverty each year due to EITC.

No tax law experience necessary.  All training is provided for free by DelCo AD and the IRS through an 8-10 hour self-paced online tax law and customer service training program and one software training day in January.  We have 10 stationary sites in Chester, Sharon Hill, Holmes, Darby, Upper Darby and Media plus mobile sites throughout the county.  The ideal volunteer is available between 3 and 8 hours a week between January 24th and April 15th.  Spanish speakers are especially encouraged to offer their services.

Please contact Georgia Julius at freetaxhelp@delcoad.org with questions or to sign up.
